Cost of Doing Business

Major tax reductions announced in the 2006/07 provincial budget have created a more business friendly landscape. By eliminating our corporate capital tax and reducing corporate income tax the Regina region offers one of the most competitive business environments in Canada.

When all the costs of establishing and running a business in the Regina region are factored in and compared to other areas in Canada, the United States and abroad - the Regina region offers a competitive business cost environment.  Of particular note, when compared to other major Canadian and American cities the Regina region is very competitive in key areas such as: land prices, construction, labour costs and wages.

So what does this mean for doing business in Regina?  Lower cost structure means more money to reinvest into the company to improve efficiencies, productivity and, in turn, increased shareholder value.

KPMG released the report below in 2008 and it compares the overall result of an average of 12 operations among seven major Canadian cities.  One can see that Saskatchewan fares well with Saskatoon in first and Regina in third.  Yet, when one looks at the percentages separating the first and third position, it is quick to see that it is a marginal difference.  Indeed, the study authors confirmed that this was within an error of estimates and would be statistically insignificant.
