City of Regina Property Tax Exemption Program

Supporting the Regina region’s business advantages and high quality of life offerings is a competitive tax exemption policy targeted at attracting new business to the region, while promoting and supporting the Regina region’s vision and plan for business development.

The policy is designed to encourage plans that satisfy one or more of the following criteria:

  • Create significant new investment in Regina and region
  • Belong to one of the sectors that are key to Regina’s economic development
  • Locate their business in the designated City locations to help achieve their growth plan
  • Be a global or national leader in implementing new technology
  • Have a significant research and development focus within the company
  • Utilize sustainable technologies/practices in construction and/or operations

Full and partial property tax exemptions up to several years are considered on a project-by-project basis and will be subject to evaluation based on a point evaluation system and matrix.

Province of Saskatchewan JobStart/FutureSkills Program

A notable incentive program is the provincially-run JobStart/FutureSkills program which is an employee training program.  For qualifying employers, JobStart/FutureSkills will provide up to 50% of the approved training costs to a maximum of $3,500 per new employee for firms with greater than one-hundred employees.  For firms with less than one-hundred employees, up to 50% of the training cost for new employees up to $5,000 is provided.

Part of the incentive for locating in the Regina region, of course, is the market-driven competitive advantage with regard to start-up, construction, labour, and operating costs.  Businesses have found that the Regina region offers excellent value for investment and has the infrastructure and distribution channels with which to access global markets.

Read more about this training incentive program at the Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment & Labour website found here.
